The Myth of the Teenage Brain

We tend to blame teen turmoil on immature brains, however, psychologist Robert Epstein challenges this view in an article in 'Scientific American'.

He argues that the teen brain is a myth, instead we are undermining young people's capabilities by treating them like children.  In the past the transition from childhood to adulthood was a relatively peaceful transition and the tumultuous period we call adolescence is a relatively modern phonomena.
