The Resilient Brain: an optimistic approach to ageing

"The Resilient Brain: Cognition and Ageing" British Academy/British Psychological Society Lecture, given by Professor Lorraine Tyler FBA at the Royal Society, London, on Thursday 22 September 2011 at the Royal Society.

Professor Tyler discusses some research that takes a positive view of changes across the lifespan, and in doing so is starting to overturn existing stereotypes of ageing.  These stereotypes are of an inevitable process of physical and mental decline but they are not keeping pace with science. There are steps we, as individuals, can take to maximise our physical and mental well-being.
