We recently received this interesting observation from a frequent visitor to the website:
I have just returned from a visit to Burma. What a contrast! Burma, as everyone knows, is a failed State, one of the poorest, in the grip of an evil dictatorship. Right? Perhaps not quite so simple. Materially poor no doubt. Governed by a self-serving militaristic dictatorship with no political freedoms, certainly. But we saw no-one who looked hungry. Everyone seemed engaged in something. Everyone offered an open, smiling welcome. A universal sense of spiritual pursuit was inescapable. How come they can live like this and many of our people don't. I must be missing something.
